Position description:
The Junior Project Coordinator - Mechanical will assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of mechanical projects. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles and project management, eager to grow and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Track project progress and provide updates to project managers and team members.
- Compile project tracking spreadsheets
- Prepare and review project documentation, including reports, specifications, change orders, shop drawing and RFI’s.
- Help resolve project issues and facilitate communication between team members.
- Facilitate the coordination of project activities across various departments and teams.
- Ensure project team adheres to project safety and quality standards.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, organizing project files, and managing correspondence.
- Support project meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Coordinate with suppliers/vendors/subtrades to ensure project deliverables meet specified standards.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction project coordination or a related role is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Millwright) and project management principles.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Contractor Foreman)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with data entry and database management.
- Understanding of project management documentation and processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with budgeting and cost management.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical engineering.
- Ability to create and manage project documentation using cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Drive, SharePoint).
- Understanding of mechanical testing methods and equipment.
- Experience with supplier and contract management.
- Ability to implement and manage change control processes.
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools and techniques (e.g., Gantt charts, critical path analysis).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
