Description
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team, located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for processing accounts and payments, verifying and recording financial data, and managing customer interactions. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process accounts and handle incoming and outgoing payments in adherence with financial policies and procedures
- Carry out daily financial transactions which include verifying, classifying, and recording accounts receivable/payable data
- Prepare and manage bills, invoices, and bank deposits
- Ensure proper posting and accounting of all payments by reconciling the accounts receivable/payable ledger
- Identify and rectify discrepancies by resolving clients’ billing issues and reconciling vendor accounts
- Manage and facilitate payment of invoices by sending bill reminders and communicating with clients
- Complete credit applications by gathering credit information, conducting trade references, and communicating with customers
- Handle periodic government remittances including sales taxes
- Assist in administrative duties as necessary.
Requirements
- The candidate must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in an Accounting Assistant role or similar.
- Proficiency in managing Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential.
- Proficiency in handling Accounts Payable (AP) is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferable.
- The candidate should have good knowledge of accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly excel.
- Strong mathematical skills and high attention to detail are necessary.
- The candidate should have excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
- The candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is essential.
- The candidate should exhibit problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze data.
- Familiarity with financial regulations, such as GAAP, would be beneficial.
- The candidate should be able to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Previous experience in auditing and tax preparation would be an advantage.
- The candidate should be able to adapt to new technologies and tools quickly.
