As a member of the Communications Web Strategy team, you’ll oversee a portfolio of websites, in partnership with technical teams, and support the renewal of our websites in a new cloud-based Drupal environment. What you’ll do
- Reporting to the Manager, Web Strategy, you will lead content strategy, planning, and development for a suite of websites in an assigned portfolio, identifying opportunities for content improvements with a user-centric focus. Working with website sponsors and senior and executive leaders and communications team members across programs, you’ll maintain governance processes and ensure websites are supporting program goals.
- As part of the Web Strategy team, you’ll ensure that website and intranet content is user-focused and aligned with organizational strategies and standards. Your approach to content design will include analytics, user experience (UX) methodologies, web content development, information architecture, search engine optimization, plain language and WCAG accessibility best practices.
- You’ll edit or rewrite existing web content and write content from scratch for new web sections, working with program leaders and other subject matter experts. You’ll oversee training, support and coaching for web content creators and distributed authors in the assigned portfolio of websites. With a keen eye for data, you’ll track site success metrics, quantifying and measuring feedback to report progress, trending issues, risks and outcomes based on the websites’ goals.
- You will also occasionally participate in a scheduled roster to help cover PHSA’s after-hours website needs.
What you bring
Qualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as User Experience Design, Communications and Journalism plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent related experience managing web content for multiple target audiences, including experience:
- writing and editing content for the web, and an advanced knowledge of style guides and grammar
- practicing user experience design activities, planning and managing web properties including experience in guiding information architecture and content strategy
- using content management systems, ideally Drupal and SharePoint
- teaching or demonstrating web content best practices to others
- a content optimization tool such as Site Improve to assess and improve website content
Skills & Knowledge
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
- Commitment to cultural humility, anti-racism, and honoring diverse forms of knowledge and experience in your work.
- Solid understanding of advanced accessibility best practices for WCAG AA compliance.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Google Analytics and expertise with data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written) including the ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the health authority as well as the ability to explain strategic web writing skills to staff with different abilities and aptitudes for technology and levels of commitment.
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritize workload, shifting attention among dynamic tasks and priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $88,990 - $127,923 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
