Nova Steel Trading - Sales Representative

The Sales Representative position will focus on securing new customers and maintaining the growth of accounts with an emphasis on excess prime and secondary sales. The ideal candidate will have direct sales experience in the steel service sector and the ability to develop long-term relationships with customers. The person will also possess industry knowledge and business acumen to meet the sales target and assist in achieving our profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Prospect and generate leads and maintain the growth of accounts to achieve and exceed individual activity targets.
- Respond to all inquiries and proactively provide information regarding order status, deliveries, quality, or other inquiries promptly.
- Develop relationships with customers, purchasing, receiving, quality departments, etc.
- Communicate customer requirements working within Nova’s internal production as well as shipping, receiving, and quality departments.
- Receive and enter customer orders accurately and efficiently following company parameters.
- Identify and resolve issues relating to customer forecasts and mill lead times.
- Act as the liaison between other Nova departments including purchasing, shipping, and finance.
- Ensure the accuracy of the order entry process.
- Develop a strong understanding of the position procedures as well as equipment capabilities.
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful and highly demanding situations.
- Ability to work with others in a group/team atmosphere.
- Demonstrates a reliable, dependable work ethic and positive work attitude.
Qualifications
- University or college degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in secondary and excess prime sales.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in math, including an ability to multiply and divide to ensure orders are accurate and reduce scrap or raw material.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
