Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Student Life, the Student Life Administrative Assistant will assist in student events, initiatives, activities, information sessions, and workshops within the Student Life Office.
Specific Responsibilities
The Student Life Administrative Assistant, will, at various times, be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support UCW's business objectives, mission, and purpose:
- Provide operational and logistical support to the Manager, Student Life.
- Support the Manager, Student Life with budget forecasting.
- Assist in the promotion and delivery of Student Life events, initiatives, activities, and campaigns.
- Assist with orientation and with student transition activities during the orientation period and events.
- Assist with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the Student Life Office.
- Assist in organizing resources, equipment, and facilities for the Student Life Office.
- Assist in planning appreciation events and initiatives for student volunteers and student staff.
- Support student volunteers, student leaders, and student staff in their queries for operations-related events, activities, and campaigns in the Student Life Office.
- Assist with Student Life events and duties as advised by the Manager, Student Life or Director, Student Affairs and Services.
- Act as the staff person who will be operationally reviewing and setting event-day logistics.
- Assist Student Success Program Assistants in organizing on-campus activities, including supply checking, supply order, room-booking, stakeholder communications, etc.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and team-building sessions as required.
- Take inventory and order office supplies as needed, inspect merchandise received and prepare inventory reports.
- Assist the Coordinator, Student Life in ad hoc student engagement and leadership education projects.
- Assist the Coordinator, Experiential Learning in ad hoc volunteer recruitment and appreciation.
- Assist the Coordinator, Student Transition and Orientation in ad hoc first-year and transition programming.
- Attend meetings and work in collaboration with student programs and/or committees on Student Life-related activities and events.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Experience in post-secondary educational organizations.
- Experience working at University Canada West as a staff member or volunteering experiences directly with University Canada West’s Department of Student Affairs & Services for a minimum of 3 terms; or interned for a minimum of one term with the Department of Student Affairs & Services.
