Job Description:
PURPOSE OF ROLE
As a member of our Forensic Analysis and Investigations Team, you will assist with investigations by conducting background information searches on individuals who are regulated by FSRA and provide administrative services to support the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing police background searches in response to investigations and licensing requests related to applications for Ontario mortgage brokers, paralegals, and insurance agents/adjusters regulated by FSRA through the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database in order to ensure accurate applicant identity and to identify/determine potential criminal record.
- Performing additional searches using other sources of information and databases.
- Opening investigation files to support the Investigations team and preparing information summaries.
- Maintaining records of investigation files and updating records retention information.
- Facilitating the collection and servicing of information for the purposes of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy requests and information sharing requests pursuant to information sharing protocols or Memorandum of Understanding
- Providing a range of administrative support to the team including purchasing of supplies, compiling and collating materials and reconciling purchases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Specialized Knowledge And Experience
- Mandatory – Level III Security Clearance
- Demonstrated knowledge of information research methods and processes to access databases and to conduct security and information searches to support the review and approval/denial of licensing applications from individuals/companies in FSRA regulated sectors.
- Computer proficiency and proven knowledge and skills in the operation of a broad range of databases including police/municipal police agencies’ databases across Canada to conduct security searches and access, gather and compile relevant information.
- Proven knowledge of records management policies and standards to ensure the security and confidentiality of documents and to prepare closed files for off-site storage.
Skills
- Proven reasoning and analytical skills and attention to detail to conduct security and information searches, identify potential discrepancies based on CPIC scores and to determine the nature/extent of additional information required to confirm applicant identity and complete background checks.
- Proven skills to collect and respond to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy requests.
- Proven organizational skills to determine what matters should be given priority when performing a range of information search responsibilities with conflicting deadlines.
- Proven oral communication skills to contact various ministries, organizations and agencies to gather additional required information and explain the nature of the request and to provide support to investigators related to information searches.
- Proven written communication skills to prepare search results letters and information summaries.
