Analytics Engineer, you'll support data-driven decision-making across Article.
- Please note this role requires you to be in-office (Vancouver HQ) 3 days per week. We will be considering local candidates only at this time (Vancouver Lower Mainland).
Why We Need You
Article is a data-driven organization - a lot of our business decisions are routed in the data and our Data team is at the center of it all.
Along with the rest of the data team (consisting of Data Engineers and other Analytics Engineers), The Analytics Engineer will gather metrics and design data models to assist the Business Intelligence and Analysis team's with their data needs. The demand for these needs comes from major stakeholders across Article (ex: Marketing, Category Management, Finance).
Your main deliverables will be data models that allow direct data access to create effective, accurate, and concise models that communicate the information and meaning of a dataset.
You will also seek ways to maintain data quality, improve data security, and improve data competency and accuracy by setting up and managing data governance.

What You’ll Do
- Work with the Business Intelligence and Analysis team to understand their data needs and the decisions they need to support.
- Provide information in the form of data models, metrics & dimensions, and direct data access/files to help the BIA team support data-driven decisions in the company.
- Ensure data quality, and improve data security by setting up and maintaining data governance.
- Transform operational data to improve its usability.
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to continuously improve the Article's data offering.
- Transform, test, deploy, and document data.
- Apply software engineering best practices such as version control and continuous integration to the analytics code base.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience in understanding Analytics Engineering principles and best practices in building data models.
- Experience working with DBT is a must-have.
- Experience optimizing SQL queries. (We primarily use MySQL and Postgres databases) is a must-have.
- Experience using DataBricks is a must have.
- Experience working with database houses such as RedShift, Delta Lake, etc.
- Understanding of SQL and RDMS databases.
- Experience working with visualization tools such as Tableau, Periscopes, ReDash, etc.
- Experience with Python is a plus.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- Completion of criminal background check.
- We use G Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs, Meet, etc) to work and Slack to collaborate and communicate.
