Summary Description:
The Sales Analyst will be responsible for collecting, presenting, and analyzing sales data with the purpose of measuring sales performance against goals/prior performance, and providing insights that increase the effectiveness of the sales force. The Sales Analyst is also responsible for providing ad hoc reporting and support requests for the sales organization as needed. Overall the responsibility is to translate numbers into information that helps the company make better decisions.
Essential Functions:
Analyze and report on volume, revenue, mix and category changes; summarize trends with respect to performance versus the prior year, forecast, and plan
- Compile data to drive, track, and measure initiative performance; providing insights to improve effectiveness
- Couple performance data with market trends and forecasts to provide strategic insights
- Analyze historical and current period data to improve forecasting
- Work with Sales and Finance to submit pricing changes accurately, and in a timely manner
- Continuously improve processes; initiating changes that add value to the department and company
- Participate in systems implementation, data validation, and process re-engineering activities
- Document and cross train other analysts on processes to ensure business continuity
- Ensure continual training and development to enhance business knowledge and analytical skills
- Ad hoc reporting and support requests for the sales organization as needed or required
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and reporting skills; this position will utilize Excel, Business Analytics, and WEBI to navigate through large data sets and summarize findings in communication
- Build dynamic models and automate repetitive tasks
- Ability to provide accurate data in a timely manner, both routine and ad hoc
- Ability to provide fact-based recommendations to various levels of management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Team player able to work across multiple functions; maintaining constructive working relationships
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Attention to detail, planning and organizational skills, executed in a faced paced environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in sales analytics or related field
- Demonstrated data mining capabilities, and can develop analytical models, tools, and reports
- Experience interacting directly with sales and business teams preferred
- Experience with third party competitive data and forecasting preferred
Working Conditions:
- Physical - Continuously sitting for prolonged periods using a computer, as the job is administrative in nature.
- Visual/Sensory - This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work environment - Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure. Attention must be concentrated in the face of numerous changing stimuli.
- Mental Stress - There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands. Continuous requirement of decisive action.
Working Requirements:
- Based in Tampa corporate office with minimal travel requirements.
