About the Role:
Assembly of LM26 was completed in our state-of-the-art labs in December 2024, and operations are starting soon (check out this video showing the work). As we advance this revolutionary technology, we need your help to capture our progress every step of the way. The Content Specialist acts as the company’s photojournalist and is at the heart of the action. Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, you would be joining the team responsible for sharing General Fusion’s mission—that we’re transforming the world’s energy grid with our uniquely practical technology—with all external audiences using the company’s owned channels (e.g. newsletter, blog, social media and website) in addition to regularly liaising with media around the world (e.g. New York Times, CNN, Economist) This position will require the successful individual to be in office 4 days per week.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead on-site communications documenting the progress in our state-of-the art facility, taking photos and videos and managing vendors that come onsite to support these efforts.
- Create content, such as short videos, web materials, presentations, blogs, and social media posts that showcase the company.
- Liaise with third-party vendors to create materials such as animations and graphics.
- Upload content to a variety of platforms such as MailChimp, Meltwater, WordPress, social media accounts etc.
- Monitor and synthesize media, social media, and website analytics to assess effectiveness of campaigns.
- Maintain reporter and events databases.
- Conduct media and issues-related research.
- Maintain alignment with brand standards and messaging across platforms.
- Plan and manage events, conferences, media days, and site tours.
- Maintain an internal database of all media related materials such as photographs, videos, publications, media coverage, etc.
- Prepare documentation and content with internal team members for a variety of purposes, such as communications with media, customers, government officials, investors, suppliers, NGO’s, and other stakeholder groups.
- Anticipate communication needs and ensure the company is prepared to meet those needs.
- Assist with development and dissemination of internal corporate communications.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of prior experience creating content in journalism, corporate communications or marketing – (Experience in energy, R&D, or technology an asset.)
- Experienced in using presentation and graphic design tools to develop communications materials, such as InDesign, PowerPoint and Photoshop, Excel, etc.
- Experience collaborating with technical experts to develop easy-to-understand public messaging.
- Experience with website and social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook and YouTube) creation and management.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
- Able to work under remote supervision.
- Be genuinely curious, with an interest in energy issues and enthusiasm for science and technology.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
