Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for an Activationist, Part Time in our Adult Day Program. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs for a range of seniors, including those who may have a physical disability, are recovering from debilitating illness, or who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive impairment.
This position reports to the Manager Active Living Programs
The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services and Activation.
- Knowledge and experience working with seniors who are frail and or cognitive impaired seniors and adults with disabilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and others
- Possess creativity, empathy, enthusiasm, and compassion
- Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word and other MS Office applications
- Current First Aid & C.P.R. certification required
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment
The successful candidate(s) for this position must be able to:
- Available to work on Saturdays
- Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program activities including culturally appropriate programs
- Assist clients in activities of daily living such as medication reminder, toileting, transferring or eating
- Prepare, set-up and clean-up the program, equipment and supplies
- Facilitate recreation, social and exercise programs and supports other staff, students and volunteers who assist with these programs
- Maintain accurate client records and statistics
- Maintains knowledge, observes, and practices appropriate procedures in regards to Fire, Safety, Quality and environmental standards.
- Provide support and accompaniment to clients to or from program on agency vehicles
- Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Personnel Manual.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
