When we say vibrant, we mean it literally! Wallpaper Online is a Vancouver-based creator of kick-ass wall designs and murals which can provide instant flair to any space. We started in Vancouver 2023 and now ship all across Canada and the US.
This position is for someone looking for flexible working hours - there is no 9-5 here. If you like mornings, afternoons or evenings, you have the flexibility to work whenever suits you - it just needs to make sense for the customers you're trying to connect with. Your hours will vary somewhat by order volume - some weeks are inevitably busier than others - but help is always available to get through the busier periods.
Your Responsibilities
You will be responsible for building a relationship with all new sales inquiries, connecting with them to determine their needs, and then closing the sale. Allow your creativity to come to life when presented with a request like, "I'm thinking blue florals for the dining room", or "my daughter wants a pink princess themed wallpaper." The quicker you can connect and understand their needs, the higher the likelihood of a sale. You will also be responsible for following up with all customers that order samples, to try and help them understand what works and what doesn't, and expedite a potential order.
Work Location
We are located on Burrard St in Vancouver. Training will be provided in-person, however, this is essentially a remote working role. All you need is a computer and an internet connection
Are you someone who is (or has) the following?:
- Friendly and honest demeanor.
Customers often reach out for advice or sometimes to complain and we need to solve their problems to the point that they are compelled to give us a 5 star rating. Our guiding principles are that we always want to do right by the customer, even if that means we lose money on an order.
- A positive approach with people.
Alot of our repeat customers are slightly eccentric interior designers. We bend over backwards to help them, and they keep coming back with more orders.
On an average day we use multiple softwares and equipment. While prior experience is not necessary, an interest in learning is. Basic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc) or a CRM (we use HubSpot) is useful.
- Solution oriented personality.
As is life, things go wrong - printers misbehave, clients don’t like the colour they received compared to the colour they saw on their backlit phone screen etc. We need to keep things moving at all times, solve the problems and move on - we cannot get stuck.
- Basic maths and finance literacy
Everyone's home is a different shape and size, which means we sometimes need to get creative with working out the square feet of customers walls from drawings.
- Organisation and planning skills.
It takes time from an inqiry to turn into an order. Therefore, you'll often be working with many potential customers at once. Being able to keep track of where all of your conversations are at is vital.
- Ability to use basic graphic design software is a bonus.
Often customers ask for a custom size or for a slightly different colour for their order- being able to do this for a customer on the fly will speed up alot of sales - if we make it quick and easy they will buy from us.
- An interest in interior design and decor.
We spend alot of days talking to people about their interiors, and we also make a product that can completely change the feeling in a space with very little cost or effort. An interest in new trends and new artworks to offer will go a long way - and if this is fun to you, then it won’t ever feel like work!
This is a commission based role
Payment is at a base wage rate of $18/hr plus 15% commission on all un-discounted sales you make, or 10% on sales that are made with a discount. With an average order size of aroun $300, your commission can add up quick!
