General Description
OMICRON is a leading manufacturer of primary and secondary test equipment for electric power systems. The Sales and Application Engineer (Canada) will be responsible for providing high-level technical and application support of OMICRON products, both on our Primary and Secondary products, and supporting Area Sales Managers to develop business in the Canadian Territory.
This position will be based in the Ontario or Quebec Province, Canada and will report to the Canada East Sales Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Become technically proficient in OMICRON products and solutions
- Develop, maintain, and foster customer relationships as required for assigned accounts and segments
- Coordinate customer visits and activities, make presentations, demonstrate products, technologies, and test methodologies, and provide post-sale customer support
- Participate in business development, market evaluation, and sales forecasting
- Record and maintain all customer meetings, leads, opportunities, and activities per the OMICRON Sales process incorporating the CRM (customer relationship management) system
- Communicate routinely with OMICRON Sales managers and stakeholders, share customer and market data, and report status at team meetings
- Coordinate promotional activities, and participation at conferences, user meetings, seminars, and local exhibits
Work Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in power systems, especially in the fields of protection relay testing or on-site testing and field diagnostics of high voltage apparatus.
- Minimum 1 year of sales experience in selling testing equipment, instrumentation, or apparatus for the electric power industry.
- Participation in international, national, regional, and local conferences, exhibits, or seminars.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Bilingual in English and French is preferred.
- Ability to schedule and plan strategically or react quickly to a changing working sales environment.
- Knowledge of power generation, transmission and distribution systems and the various apparatus used within these systems.
- Ability to present products, technologies and test methodologies to technicians, engineers, supervisors, managers and executives via telephone, email, visits, exhibits or webinars.
- Ability to perform products demonstrations on-site with or without the assistance of Application Engineers.
- Reputable business and work ethics and personal character.
- Goal and team oriented – willingness to work collectively with others to achieve corporate, regional and personal goals.
- Knowledge and understanding of the organization and business processes employed by electric power companies, government agencies, manufacturers and industrial consumers of bulk power in the Canadian market.
- A solid working knowledge of MS Office – especially Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Excellent written, speech, presentation and negotiating skills in English & French required.
- Knowledge of protection, automation, and control systems are a plus.
- Creative, innovative thinking and solutions oriented - team member.
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%).
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering required; or certification of completion of an electronic or electrical technical education required.
- Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering; not required, but preferred.
