The Data Engineer builds systems that collect, manage and convert raw data into usable information for Data Scientists and Businesses Analysts to interpret, evaluate and optimize BCMEA’s operational performance. You will collaborate with BCMEA’s Data Analytics, Data Infrastructure and Program Technical Team to develop, deliver and implement reliable data infrastructure. Working alongside the WaterfrontWorks Technology Group you will help with establishing effective data pipeline performance monitoring. This position is a 15 month contract, and a dedicated resource to the WaterfrontWorks initiative, which is a 7-element technology program focused on improving our workforce planning tools.
Responsibilities
- Engagement: Actively participate and collaborate with BCMEA’s Technology Group in developing our solutions.
- Data Modeling: Utilize Microsoft Power BI, T-SQL, SSIS and other relevant Microsoft tools to support data modeling and pipeline development alongside the Program Technical Team.
- Infrastructure: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust data infrastructure utilizing Azure as necessary, aligning with the evolving needs of BCMEA.
- Efficiency of Data Flow: Assess and provide detailed solutions for enhancing data flow efficiency and compliance across the organization.
- Data Governance: Collaborate with BCMEA’s Data Analytics team to formulate robust data governance policies for daily operations and future data structures.
- Analysis: Perform system analysis, defining application systems' scope and objectives, conducting feasibility studies, and resolving existing system logic challenges as required. This involves preparing detailed specifications for system modifications or new implementations.
- Design: Participate in-depth business analysis, including workflow analysis, to define business requirements and models. This includes scoping business objectives, designing or enhancing manual and automated procedures.
- Implementation: Take SQL pseudo-code from Data Analytics team members to a finished state, including implementation of process orchestration using DevOps framework.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related program from an accredited post-secondary school institution.
- 2 to 4 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Technically proficient in Programming Languages (i.e., Python, TSQL and C#), Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, , Microsoft Office and Microsoft Power Platform, Azure.
- Versed ability in data modelling, delivery data layers, and data processes and procedures are considered a bonus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with the Data Analytics, Data Infrastructure and Program Technical team by fostering open communication and idea sharing.
