JOB OVERVIEW:
The Fabricator is responsible for crafting high-quality set ups to produce components for custom display projects. This individual ensures that all parts meet exacting standards of precision and design, contributing to the seamless execution of our innovative retail displays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up, operate and maintain fabrication lines and related equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to produce custom components.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to resolve production challenges.
- Inspect and verify final products for adherence to quality standards and project requirements.
- Follow health and safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Maintain inventory of raw materials and tools needed for fabrication processes.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Proficiency with plastics fabrication and its tools.
- Strong knowledge of Flame polish, Heat bend, bonding plastic, and other display production activities
- Ability to fit and assembles parts, attach hardware, fittings using jigs, clamps, fixtures, as needed
- Performs typical machine shop operations to support the Plastic Fabrication process
- Ability and proficiency to utilize light machining skills using various equipment commonly associated with this type of work: drill press, band saw, cutoff saw, pedestal grinder, table saw, tapping, precision measuring tools, bench assembly, power tools, Syringes and Hand Tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and bill of material (BOM’s).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Responsible for set up and change-over of various lines and orders.
- Ability to install parts, hardware, and tooling / components, as needed.
- Troubleshoot complex problems associated with the set up.
- Mechanical aptitude to perform complex set ups and line change overs.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tooling, systems & related equipment.
- Ability to analyze problems concerned with setups and make changes / modifications, as necessary.
- Prepare and stage jigs and fixtures for next operations
- Ability and proficiency to utilize machining skills using various equipment commonly associated with this type of work: drill press, band saw, cutoff saw, pedestal grinder, table saw, tapping, precision measuring tools, power tools, Syringes and Hand Tools etc.
- Ability to fabricate and perform bench assembly operations including assembly, screwing, drilling, Tapping, sanding, machining etc.
- Ability to fill out work orders and labor reports for each task completed during the day.
- Ability to train others.
- May be required to assist other Departments, as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fabrication or a related field, preferably in manufacturing or design displays.
Technical Skills:
- Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office –Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and in writing
- Must be highly detail-oriented, and results driven
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
