We have an immediate opening for a Junior Marine Biologist to join our Biological Services department. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to expand upon their existing knowledge base by working alongside qualified environmental professionals and industry experts on a diverse portfolio of projects for a strong client base.
Keystone Environmental Ltd. is a growing environmental consulting firm that is a leader in providing marine biological services to developers, contractors, municipal, provincial and federal clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join and help grow our marine/aquatic team in BC.
We provide comprehensive training and support in environmental consulting practices including field methodologies, the use of sophisticated technology (e.g., side scan sonar), and technical protocols to meet regulatory standards (e.g., Fisheries and Oceans Canada).

Your responsibilities will include:
- Writing professional environmental reports including: monitoring reports, aquatic environmental assessments, environmental permitting applications, and habitat enhancement plans.
- Organizing field work (e.g., securing rental equipment, booking ferries, hotels, coordinating transportation to site).
- Conducting field work under the direction of a senior biologist. We provide in-house training for many types of work including: construction environmental monitoring, hydroacoustic monitoring, side-scan sonar surveys, marine mammal observations, aquatic effects assessment field work, habitat offsetting design, bird surveys, fish surveys (e.g. seining, gee trapping, electrofishing), stream surveys, water quality sampling, and sediment sampling. Previous training and/or experience in these areas would be considered an asset.
- Supporting projects and project managers with administrative tasks, which may include assisting with proposals, tracking project deliverables, writing standard operating procedures, and preparing marketing materials.
Specific qualifications desired:
- A bachelor’s degree (i.e., Bachelor of Science or equivalent in an applicable discipline or field of study). A master’s degree would be considered an asset.
- Registered as a Biologist in Training (B.I.T.) with the BC College of Applied Biologists or eligible upon application.
- Three to six years of relevant experience (similar to responsibilities listed above).
