Position Description

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Knowledge Translation (KT) Specialist position in the Neurosciences and Mental Health (NMH) program in the Research Institute at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This is a casual role (up to 10 hours/week) beginning with a 6-month contract. The candidate will work within a team of pediatric clinician-researchers and patient and family partners who conduct research on paediatric brain tumour survivors. The Knowledge Translation (KT) Specialist will work closely with the Senior Project Manager. They will focus on trial communications, recruitment and social media presence.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

Support implementation of the Knowledge Translation (KT) study plan
Offer outstanding communications
Coordinate social media presence
Support the development of KT-related materials in collaboration with the research team, including but not limited to infographics, figures, key diagrams and conceptual models
Support the development of strategic communications related to the overall communications strategy, including social media outlets for recruitment and PowerPoint presentations
Participate in strategic discussions related to the Met Med Can trial
Relationship building (acting as key communicator between project team members, study personnel, stakeholders and community partners)
Participate in strategic planning activities related to the Met Med Can trial and identify opportunities for outreach and recruitment; propose new initiatives to meet the goals of the trial, implementation, research utilization, stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing
Maintain awareness of gaps in communications and identify groups and committees to improve outreach of the Met Med Can trial
Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across the organization and externally
Recommend process improvements and innovations to streamline processes and workflows

Here's What You'll Need:

A Diploma or degree in Psychology, Communications, Public Health, Health Administration, Health Science or a related field with a minimum of two years¿ experience in knowledge translation, graphic design, or related experience.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Experience developing KT related materials
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and self-directed
Strong project management skills
Excellent computer skills
Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
Strong motivation to contribute to building a research team focused on improving children's health
Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity
Demonstrated commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
Experience in a range of relevant activities e.g., written/oral communication, liaising with a variety of stakeholders such as researchers, clinicians, patients and families, community organizations, and other partners
