Reports to: Product Certification Manager
As a Corporate Quality Certification Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all food manufacturing processes, products, and systems meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and certifications. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to obtain, maintain, and manage quality certifications, while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements related to product certifications as well as customer-specific requirements across all manufacturing sites.
- Ensure all quality system processes are aligned with the latest regulations and industry best practices and support the Product Certification Manager in ensuring continuous compliance.
- Assist in the certification process for new products, ingredients, and manufacturing processes, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant certifications and standards.
- Support the Product Certification Manager in overseeing the timely renewal of certifications and ensuring that corrective actions for identified gaps are properly addressed.
- Ensure that raw materials and ingredients sourced are compliant with product certifications (e.g., Organic, Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free).
- Maintain up-to-date allergen information of raw materials, facility allergen list and ensure that batching sheets reflect all allergens present in ingredients to prevent cross-contamination during manufacturing trials.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure allergen controls are in place according to certification requirements.
- Involve in preparing for and coordinating external audits, including liaising with certification bodies, auditors, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Provide support during customer audits and assessments by gathering and providing necessary documentation and information to demonstrate compliance with relevant certification requirements.
- Collaborate with the Product Certification Manager to assist in the investigation of non-conformances, and work on implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address identified quality or compliance gaps.
- Ensure timely follow-up on CAPA implementation, working cross-functionally to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with Sourcing & Procurement team in approving alternate suppliers, ensuring that compliance requirements for raw materials and packaging are met.
- Stay updated on changes to regulations, certification standards, and customer-specific requirements, and communicate these updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with statistical analysis software for data interpretation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, or regulatory affairs within the food manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience managing and maintaining industry certifications and participating in audits (ISO, SQF, BRCGS, etc.).
- Strong understanding of global food safety regulations and standards (FDA, USDA, EU, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
