Intermediate Accountant, you'll play a critical role within the Finance team, assisting with the monthly accounting close cycle, completing regulatory tax filing requirements, and assisting with implementing automation projects.

About The Team
We are a hybrid team which means you will required to work in the office 3 days per week. Working in office days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the completion of accurate and timely monthly comparative financial statements with departmental breakdown.
- Assist with month-end closings including account reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of key continuity schedules.
- Assist in preparing financial reporting including month-end and year-end financial statements and analysis, including involvement in monthly commentary packs to the SLT team.
- Complete working papers and ad hoc analysis, including necessary journal entries to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Liaise with FP&A on forecast variances and perform variance analysis as required.
- Lead budget to actual review meetings with department heads.
- Assist in the preparation of tax reconciliations work papers and ensure regulatory filing requirements (Indirect Tax, US sales and use tax, Annual corporate tax, SRED).
- Participate in implementation discussions, scenario planning, and UAT as required.
- Drive operational efficiency by analyzing workflows, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and fostering continuous optimization in day-to-day operations.
- Assist with audits and tax audits by gathering required documentation and providing samples as requested.
Who You Are
- 2-3 years experience in a previous accounting role.
- Verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively conveying financial information, collaborating with various departments, and preparing clear and accurate reports.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills are crucial for building strong relationships with stakeholders and providing support during financial reviews and audits.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail ensure accuracy in financial statements, reconciliations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines are vital for managing the monthly accounting close cycle and delivering timely financial reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills help identify discrepancies, perform variance analysis, and suggest improvements in financial processes.
- Some supervisory and past leadership skills are a plus- important for guiding teams, leading budget reviews, and contributing to the success of financial projects.
- The ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate ensures efficient handling of multiple responsibilities and adherence to tight deadlines.
- The ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment is key to maintaining performance during busy periods, such as month-end and year-end closings.
- Proficiency with G-suite / Microsoft Office Suite or related software supports the creation and management of financial documents and reports.
- Experience in NetSuite is an asset for leveraging ERP systems to enhance financial operations and reporting.
- Experience in Canadian and US indirect taxes is a plus.
- Pursuing a CPA designation or recently designated CPA.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- Completion of criminal background check.
