Reporting to the Director, Health System Strategy and Integration, the Planner is responsible for providing technical planning expertise in the analysis of data and information that assists in determining the local health care system plans and priorities. Conducts planning initiatives and makes recommendations on projects.

Post-secondary education/degree in health administration, health planning, business administration, research. Masters preferred
-
6 years’ experience in a health care or relevant environment
-
Previous experience in carrying out technical research, analysis and planning initiatives, preferably in the health care sector
-
Experience in project administration/management and project management methodology, including use of project management software is an asset
-
Good knowledge of and proven ability to apply multiple planning and analysis methodologies and make effective recommendations

Knowledge of Quality Improvement and Evaluation methodologies

Understanding of the Ontario health care system and issues

Excellent written communications skills to prepare clear reports and data analysis to support effective decision-making and priority-setting

Excellent oral communications skills to explain complex technical information to superiors, colleagues and stakeholders

Strong teamwork and customer service skills

Proficiency with PC-based hardware/software and inter / intranets

Internally, communicates with employees throughout the organization to discuss information and problems related to undertaking the priority setting analysis and health planning functions

The position provides a critical role in the modeling, sustainable improvement, priority setting, analysis and health planning, and integration

Works closely with the Central East OH Director, HSSIPP and other team members to review and discuss issues and determine priorities

Decisions on specific initiatives and recommended changes to business processes could have a direct financial impact to the organization and affect service delivery to patients

Information and advice given to the Senior Team and CEO, that is not accurate could negatively impact patient service delivery and the financial position of the organization

Decisions regarding data could have significant financial and service delivery implications to the organization

Failure to manage resources and meet deadlines could affect staff morale and the ability of staff to properly meet the needs of the patients

Failure to provide leadership in the management and support of OH initiatives could affect ongoing project funding

Ability to be an ambassador and role model within the community and among OH stakeholders
