How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests.
As a Server, you will be:
- Carefully prepares beverages according to customer specifications, including coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages. • Sets up buffets and food displays according to BEO requirements. • Serves guests during all meal periods. • Completes assigned side duties in a timely and efficient manner; side duties may include but are not limited to: polishing silverware, polishing glassware, organizing linen rooms, assisting with room sets as required, counting inventory of smallwares. • Delivers food to buffets or meeting rooms as required by BEOs.
- Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
- Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
- Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
- Follows standard portioning of alcoholic beverages and uses SmartServe policies to prevent the over-serving of guests.
- Follows all Optimum Service Training techniques to ensure exceptional customer service during all events.
- Acts with purpose and intention – uses effective time management skills.
- Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints politely and promptly.
- Maintains pantry par levels and follows proper procedures for restocking and reporting consumption.
- Checks all items for expiration weekly and removes items past their best before date; follows FIFO and FEFO procedures.
- Completes fridge/freezer temperature checks and other HSQA logs as assigned by supervisor.
- Replenishes non-alcoholic beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area.
- Must interact with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards, and company inventory and cash control procedures.
- Follows all uniform and jewelry policies. • Must always follow all health and safety and quality assurance company policies.
- Must complete 24/7 training within one week of start date, and annually thereafter.
About you:
- You have previous experience in the food services industry
- You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
- Exceptional communications skills and ability to get along well with others
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift
- Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills
- Effective and timely communication with both guests and internal stakeholders to ensure event success, including providing exceptional customer service
- Always maintains a professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work at a fast pace • Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations
