Bookkeeping and Payroll Administrator (28 hours/week)

This position works closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the accounting department meets the needs of CMHA NWV’s various internal and external stakeholders. The Bookkeeping and Payroll Administrator is responsible for providing bookkeeping and general administrative support, as well as processing bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration to ensure employee compensation is consistent with CMHA NWV’s personnel policies and complies with provincial and federal regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Duties:
- Processing full-cycle payroll and year-end payroll for CMHA NWV employees and contractors in a timely and accurate manner
- Oversee Payworks payroll system
- Respond to employees' payroll and benefits inquiries and requests in a professional and timely manner and escalating issues when necessary
- Ensuring the accurate enrolment and administration of employees for group benefits and RRSP contributions
- Processing statutory government filing such as T4s and ROEs in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintaining secure and confidential employee records
- Processing off cycle payments as needed
- Respond to third party payroll inquiries from outside parties such as CRA, WorkSafe BC, Service Canada, ICBC and lawyers
Accounting and Bookkeeping Duties:
- Process and prepare payment for all payables invoices / employee expense reports on a timely basis
- Record bank transactions
- Assist in preparation of monthly and annual accounting records
- Record credit card charges and reconcile credit cards
- Assist with preparation of Year End audit files and liaise with the external accountant
- Promptly respond to customer and supplier account enquiries
- Prepare Accounts Receivable invoices and submit to customers and clients
Administration Duties:
- Maintain accurate and orderly personnel and finance files and records
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager

Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Professional certification or 2+ years of full-cycle payroll experience
- Demonstrated experience with QuickBooks Desktop or Online
- Certificate in bookkeeping or accounting desirable
- Experience with Payworks
- Experience with benefits administration
- Ability to understand provincial and federal employment standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

Hours of Work and Considerations
Work schedule: Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 AM-4:30 PM which includes an unpaid 30-minute meal break
Location: On location at the Marine Drive Office – 312-2030 Marine Drive, North Vancouver, BC
Salary: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour, based on experience.
