ABOUT THE PLAN OFFICE OF THE IWA–FOREST INDUSTRY PENSION AND LTD PLANS
Established to support Canadian forestry workers and their families, the IWA–Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans provide pension and disability benefits and rehabilitation services to members.
With over four billion in assets, 400+ participating employers and more than 70,000 members, the IWA–Forest Industry Pension Plan is one of Canada’s top 100 pension funds and is one of the top private sector pension funds in BC. The IWA–Forest Industry LTD Plan was created almost a decade after the pension plan, and now serves over 8,000 members across western Canada.
The plans are intended to supplement government retirement benefits and provide financial protection in the event of illness and injury. They are a valuable part of members’ financial security in retirement and beyond. Both plans are administered by the Plan Office, which manages plan assets and benefits.

WHO YOU ARE
You are a positive, highly versatile individual and strong attention to detail to join our administrative support team in the full-time role of Office Assistant. As the Office Assistant, you will work closely with other team members to greet visitors, coordinate, and communicate office activities, answer and refer inbound telephone calls, type correspondence, coordinate monthly mail merges, assist with Board Meetings, and back up other members of the team with such duties as mail. If you have a great attitude and a willingness to learn and help, we can teach you the tasks.
Some of your responsibilities include:
- Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries from staff, members, trustees, consultants, and other parties
- Format, merge and proofread all correspondence for the Pension, LTD Departments and other departments that may need assistance. Ensure all typing is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate monthly mail merges
- Electronically file all correspondence that incoming and outgoing
- Support meetings in the boardrooms, schedule catering, facilitate set up and clean-up which includes ensure there is always coffee and water available, arrange catering, removing dishes, setting up for next meeting
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, supplies, inquiries and other interactions
- Dispatch and accept courier packages
- Assist with annual and monthly mail outs
- Plus, other assignments and projects
YOU HAVE/ARE
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Office Administration with one years’ experience in an office environment, or a combination of education and experience will be considered
- Must be able to work independently and within a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proactive and flexible to meet changing work needs and demands
- Great attitude, wiliness to step up and help where needed
