Our assistants are responsible for providing the highest level of service and satisfaction to our referring clients and hospitals. Client Services is the central contact at Trout Lake Animal Hospital and has a responsibility to ensure we represent the hospital in a professional manner. As the first face of the hospital, it is key to meet and greet our clients with a positive outlook, a friendly smile and make them feel comfortable.
**NOTE: Previous experience in a hospital or clinic is MANDATORY. Serious candidates only please. **
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient intake, booking appointments, surgeries, and drop-offs
- Assisting with animal restraint for examination, x-rays and blood/urine collection
- Processing in-house lab samples and submitting requisitions to IDEXX
- Handling and dispensing medication under veterinarian instructions
- Aide in the preparation for surgery and other related procedures
- Accurately charting and monitoring the vitals during and after surgical procedures
- Financial duties include processing payments, submitting insurance claims and sales
- Answering telephone inquiries and directing calls appropriately
- Ensuring all patient records are complete and correctly documented as per hospital paperless protocol and procedures.
- Cleaning and sterilizing all rooms, treatment area and kennels
- Ensures that written communications including referrals, telephone messages, and emails are dealt with in a timely manner
- Processing/creating estimates and invoices for the clients, and completing invoicing prior to discharge
- Ensuring that the hospital is clean and well-stocked during business hours
- Clean and autoclave surgical instruments
- Prepare surgical packs for surgeries and other minor procedure
- Complete other administrative/reception duties as assigned.

- Experience with the Veterinary Cornerstone program would be an asset.
- Must be proficient with common computer applications particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinic is Mandatory.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Veterinary assistants is preferred.
SCHEDULING DEMANDS:
- Start times range from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Reception closes at 9:00 p.m. (Open 6 days a week- The hospital hours are subject to change based on hospital needs)
