The opportunity:
Reporting to the Co-Chief Investment Officer, Head of Multi-Asset Income Solutions, the Analyst, Investment Solutions will be directly involved in understanding, assessing, and monitoring investment manager(s) which are featured on the managed investment solution shelf at Wellington-Altus. The incumbent will utilize analyses techniques, both quantitative and qualitative that are used to deliver an initial and ongoing assessment of the investment solutions.
The Analyst, Investment Solutions will also be responsible for cultivating relationships with new and existing advisors with the purpose to promote adoption of our managed investment solutions (platforms) and support those advisor teams that currently utilize any of the offered solutions across all business lines.
Key responsibilities include:
Investment Data Management & Analysis
- Collecting, organizing, and analyses of investment-related data (e.g. product/manager concentration, asset class/sector/region exposures, etc.) for the purposes of Investment Policy Statement (IPS) adherence.
- Reviewing potential holdings onboarded to Wellington-Altus to assess compatibility governed by a multi-faceted rule set primarily driven by investment vehicle structure and manufacturer.
- Assessing risk at both the product and overall holdings level incorporating the current risk methodology.
Managed Investment Solutions Research
- Contributing to the due diligence of those portfolio/asset managers constructing investment products and constituent-based models that are selected for inclusion for the product shelf housed within each business line.
Research Management
- Supporting advisor teams with their understanding of the research offering within the dealership.
- Monitoring research providers, assessing current stability for potential expansion or substitution.
- Assisting in the administration, marketing, and deployment of research.
Investment-Related Support
- Providing support to advisor teams as it relates to inquiries on the managed investment solution set, the underlying attributes, and administration of the platforms/programs.
- Ongoing support of advisor teams in understanding performance, risk, the underlying holdings, and changes to the overall investment solutions offered.
- Tracking interaction with teams through our in-house CRM platform.
- Generating sales summaries to executive and senior management, outlining both qualitative and quantitative factors within the specified time frame.
- Involvement in the marketing process of our investment solutions, providing insight into how best to communicate to our advisor teams.
- Managing the workflow of our support model through multiple communication streams, primarily through our group mailbox and intranet sites.
- Direct involvement in proposal generation based on team and client need as it pertains to the managed investment solutions provided by the firm.
Lead Generation
- Engaging new advisor teams through professional presentations as a part of the transition life cycle.
- Providing insight into the investment solution set having a deep understanding of the construction process, benefits, costs, the compensation model, and the overall administrative experience.
- Ongoing interaction with teams to understand their practice, their needs and opportunities for improvement.
- Understanding prospective opportunities and ongoing engagement to convert leads into adoption to one of the supported investment solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in commerce/business administration, economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years’ financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment.
- 2+ years’ experience in a client-service facing role/inside sales.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.
- Completion of industry-specific courses such as the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and/or Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH) are considered an asset.
- Industry recognized designations such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), or equivalent are considered a strong asset.
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English is a requirement; ability to speak and write in French is considered a strong asset.
- Distinct competency with MS Excel with experience utilizing secondary embedded analytical packages (Power Pivot, Power Query, Data Model, Visual Basic) are assets.
- Expertise with the broader MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Experience using industry-specific applications from suppliers such as Morningstar, Refinitiv, Factset, Bloomberg or the like is required.
- Large data model techniques/languages are an asset.

- An ability to incorporate new techniques through adopted technology suites to help streamline existing, and construct new, analytical methods.
Conditions of employment:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to travel 10-15% of the time.
