This position is being offered on a 12-month contract.

The Junior Accountant (Contract) is primarily responsible for processing accounts payable invoices and expense reports, data entry/coding, reconciling vendor’s statement of accounts and document filing, tracking and tracing. Additional responsibilities include reconciling bank account deposits, preparing journal entries and assisting store staff with deposit issues and supplies.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

Review, code and enter accounts payable invoices into D365
Process expense reports
Prepare and provide necessary backups for weekly payment runs
Research and resolve accounts payable issues with vendors
Process vendor profile setups and changes
Reconcile vendor statement of accounts and prepare monthly vendor reconciliations
Assist other departments with accounts payable inquiries
File and trace documents

Banking

Reconciliation and analysis of cash, credit and debit card deposits
Preparation of journal entries and reports
Follow up with the banks for missing cash deposits
Order bank deposit slips for retail stores
Assist other departments with cash, credit and debit card inquiries
Process Global Payments retrieval requests and chargebacks
Assist on AP cancellation and voiding cheques in D365
Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum one to two years’ work experience in AR and AP
Some post-secondary accounting education, or in a recognized accounting certification program (i.e., CPA)
A desire to pursue a career in the accounting field
Good basis of accounting knowledge
Strong data entry skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and D365 software
Familiarity with additional software programs
A strong attention to detail and a passion to learn
Ability to work well in a team environment
